Boiler Upgrade Scheme

Boiler Upgrade Scheme

The government is providing grants to encourage property owners to install low carbon heating systems, such as heat pumps, through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS). These grants can help property owners overcome the upfront cost of low carbon heating technologies.

The scheme is open to domestic and small non-domestic properties in England and Wales. It runs from 2022 to 2025. Please visit the Government website for more information.

Eligibility

Property owners living in England or Wales, including private landlords and second-home owners, may be eligible. The scheme is open to domestic and small non-domestic properties with an installation capacity up to 45 kWth (Kilowatt-thermal) which covers most homes, and a current energy performance certificate (EPC), with no outstanding recommendations for loft of cavity wall insulation.  Self-builds projects are eligible for the grant if they have been constructed using the labour or resources of the first owner and have not been owned by a business or an organisation. Grants are available for air, ground, and water source heat pumps. Hybrid heat pump systems are not eligible. As an MCS-certified installer, JUPITER can advise you on your heat pump installation and apply for the grant on your behalf. The value of the grant will be discounted off the price you pay. Ofgem will confirm that JUPITER is acting on your behalf by e-mail.
