Firmax CP
Firmax CP
JUPITER’s Firmax CP boards provide an elegant, ultra low profile alternative to screeding over an underfloor heating system.
Firmax CP is delivered as two, 6 mm thick calibrated cement boards. These are adhered together in a staggered, overlapping pattern to ensure there are no butt joints in the layer. With the thermal conductivity and strength of a cement based product, at a total thickness of only 12 mm, the underfloor heating system is able to heat up and cool down exceptionally well.
Strength and Reliability
The system was tested for point load resistance over the JUPITER Ideal heating panels at MPA Karlsruhe in 2013 with excellent results. Being cementitious, Firmax CP exhibits extraordinary strength in spite of its thin form factor and is able to withstand light commercial point loads of 4 kN.
Board sizes are 1200 mm x 600 mm x 6 mm and the system weighs 21 kg / m².

Do NOT walk on the exposed adhesive!
Remove the protective film covering the adhesive immediately prior to installing the top layer to ensure it is not contaminated and its adhesion compromised.
Tips For Floor Finishes:
Wooden floors can be installed either as a floating floor, or adhered using an adhesive recommended by the timber floor manufacturer.
Thin floor finishes such as vinyl, marmoleum etc. may require the joints between the Firmax boards to be filled.
Do NOT exceed 35° C surface temperature.
Please consult with your final floor manufacturer regarding the maximum floor temperature permitted. Sensitive floor finishes such as timber and resin should not exceed 27° C as a surface temperature.

Post-installation Guidelines
Once installed, Firmax CP requires 72 hours to become fully load bearing.
Firmax CP boards are capable of accepting foot traffic typical of a building site and, provided that certain precautions are followed, then our system can be used as a working surface before the final floor finishes are fitted.
The system can be used as a working surface if the following precautions are observed:
-
Site traffic thoroughfares should be protected with 1 x 18 mm ply. Sweep the floors before laying the ply.
-
The floor system can accept typical site foot traffic after 24 hours at 20° C.
-
Ladders should be used on 1 layer of 18 mm ply after 24 hours.
-
Towers and scaffolding should be erected on 1 layer of 18 mm ply after 72 hours.
-
Pallet trucks with load should be used only on 2 layers of 18 mm ply after 72 hours.
-
Excess glue should be scraped off after 24 hours.
-
The heating system can be turned on after 72 hours – no heating up protocol required.
The Firmax CP is at risk of damage if the following points are not observed:
-
Pallet trucks of ANY kind should NOT be used directly on the system.
-
DO NOT apply heavy/point loads at the edge of the system.
-
DO NOT allow scissor lifts or cherry pickers to be used.
-
DO NOT proceed with final floor installation on damaged areas.
-
DO NOT allow any foot traffic on the system before the 24-hour cure time.

Fitting Floor Finishes
Firmax CP flooring elements are suitable as a substrate for engineered boards as well as mosaic or herringbone parquet.
Laminated, engineered timber floor, including parquet can be laid as a floating or bonded floor (refer to manufacturer’s recommendations).
Firmax CP flooring elements are NOT suitable as a substrate for solid timber flooring (inc. parquet & solid strip flooring) unless it is laid as a floating floor or using special installation techniques.
Mosaic parquet should be installed in a box or herringbone pattern to ensure that there is sufficient allowance for movement of the timber in all directions.
With these types of floor finishes it is not necessary to fill joints between the boards or fill visible screw heads.
Moisture and humidity conditions should always be taken into account when installing any timber products. Timber finishes should be well-acclimatised prior to installation.
Primers, sealers and adhesives with lower water content are recommended and should be applied in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
It is recommended that the underfloor heating is switched off when installing the floor finish.
